Moving to the Rhythm of Life: October 19, International Breast Cancer Awareness Day

October 19 marks International Breast Cancer Awareness Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness, shedding light on the issue, and supporting all those who have faced
this disease: those currently undergoing cancer treatment, those who have overcome it, and those who, sadly, have passed away from it.
This day highlights the importance of research and comprehensive support at every stage of the disease.
Our research group joins this cause by sharing our TEMPO Project (Therapeutic Exercise and Music in Post-treatment Oncology),
which focuses on improving the quality of life for women in the survivorship stage. Physical and emotional aftereffects—such as persistent fatigue, loss of strength,
or decreased self-esteem—can affect many people during and after cancer treatment. Faced with this reality, there are no magic formulas, but there are tools available to everyone. Physical activity, tailored to each person’s needs and abilities, can contribute significantly to improving well-being and quality of life. And along this journey, music can become a great ally: listening to our favorite songs while we move can make the activity more enjoyable, motivating, and easier to incorporate into our daily routine.
Initiatives like the ones our team develops aim to do just that: support, with scientific evidence, accessible self-care strategies available to everyone—such as physical exercise or music—that can help improve well-being and quality of life during and after cancer treatment.
However, health flourishes when we share it. As you can see in the images from this first edition of the project, the recovery process is also experienced as a community. Feeling part of a group, sharing both small and big challenges, and having the support of other peers is invaluable. The strength of the group and the shared affection are the best motivation to keep moving forward.
A warm hug to everyone.
